Dear <<Name>>
Many thanks for your support to 'The Living Coast' UNESCO Biosphere through the last year!

See below for a reminder of what's been happening with 'TLC', and a preview of what is yet to come...

Some of our Highlights of 2018:
  • BioCultural Heritage Tourism’– we successfully secured EU funding to launch this new collaborative project (2018-21) with other English and French Biospheres, to develop new natural tourism experiences for The Living Coast (TLC)
  •  ‘Vision 2030’ - Growing our Living City’ – we co-hosted this event with BHCC in July, to explore possible futures for our local environment and urban sustainability, in the context of new planned development
  • The Living Coast Undersea Experience”– we worked with local artists and partners to launch this VR initiative at the Brighton Digital Festival in October, for people to engage virtually with the local marine environment
  • 'Rain Gardens' project in Portslade – we made a video about our work to help naturally address local flooding, which was shown at the United Nations in New York in July – as an example of our contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • ‘TLC’ events – we helped to run the new ‘Greater Brighton Cycle Challenge’ charitable fundraising event, held in July, and led a series of special seasonal ‘HealthWalks’ also
  •  ‘TLC’ communications – we have a new section of our website ‘Window on Our World (‘WoW!)’ to showcase  the fantastic local projects and places that people can engage with on their doorstep. Check out also our interactive ‘Explore TLC’ map. We have a growing band of Friends & Followers across our channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And keep an eye out for giant TLC flags proudly displayed by Biosphere partners along the coast!
Plus a few things we plan for 2019….
  • New Archaeology Gallery at Brighton Museum – see this amazing new space which will be open from 26th January 2019, including our special TLC display and expert video
  • Greater Brighton Cycle Challenge’ – take part in the next event! - to be held on Sunday 19th May
  • The Living Coast Undersea Experience”– this VR infotainment experience will be going on tour through 2019, keep an eye out for it visiting a venue near you!
  • Undercliff path ‘creative interpretation’ new panels – we have helped secure funding for arts partner ONCA to engage people with the fantastic life of the chalk reef Marine Conservation Zone here
  • England Coast Path – we propose to install co-branded TLC signage along the local part of this new national route
  • ‘BioCultural Heritage Tourism’ – we will be working with partners to develop a tourism master plan for sustainable management of visitor impacts and new opportunities
Seasons Greetings to all of our 'Friends'!
