Gundermann Acres

Gundermann Acres is a 90-acre farm located in Wharton County, Tx.   Wharton is about one hour southwest of Houston. They also have acreage in both Glen Flora and Elm Grove.

Gundermann Acres is owned by Garrett and Stacie Gundermann. Garrett is a fourth-generation farmer.  They started Gundermann Acres in 2009 after years of working with Garrett's parents at Gundermann Farms. Throughout the generations, the Gundermann Family has owned a flower shop, a meat market, a peach orchard, and two farms!  And as history goes, now it's Garrett who farms.

Gundermann Acres grows over 100 varieties of vegetables throughout the year, although the list changes each week.  Throughout the year, they grow seasonal organic/sustainable fruits and vegetables.  The farm operates on a twelve month basis.  When they aren't growing in the fields, they are growing in their 10 commercial greenhouses. This gives them the opportunity to provide local, high quality, great tasting food to customers all year long, even when not typically in season!!!

The primary goal of Gundermann Acres is to provide chemical free vegetables to the Houston markets.   That's why Gundermann Acres is a fixture of Farmer Market at Imperial!  You can find them every Saturday, with a wonderful variety of produce to choose from.  From farm to table, it doesn't get better than this!
Did You Know?

The USDA estimates that more than one million customers visit farmers' markets each week.
Guest Musician:
Sean Heyl

We are happy to welcome back a market favorite, Sean Heyl.  Sean is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist currently based out of Houston, TX. With over 12 years of professional music experience. Sean has performed and recorded with many known bands and solo artists. He is currently working on a solo album of his own original work.

If you haven't relaxed at the market to hear some great tunes, come out this weekend. You won't be disappointed!
Recipe of the Week

Sausage Basil Stuffed Jalapenos
  • 15 medium sized jalapeno peppers (use our pepper picker to pick the perfect sized peppers every time)
  • 1/2 lb. breakfast sausage - cooked & crumbled
  • 8 oz. Chive & Onion cream cheese
  • 2 tsp. fresh chopped basil or 1 tsp dried
Cut the tops off the jalapenos and clean out the seeds and veins (our coring tool is very helpful to do this task). Drain grease from sausage and while still warm, combine remaining ingredients (should be smooth and creamy).  Place mixture into 1 quart storage (Ziploc) bag and cut the corner to create a piping bag. Pipe stuffing into the cored peppers filling them to the top. Bake at 350º for 15-25 minutes (the longer the pepper is cooked, the sweeter and less hot it will become).  Can also be cooked on your grill.
