Ericsson and Arqiva two faces of managed WiFi services

By Adlane Fellah

The rise of neutral host and ‘as a service’ network models will be a significant boost to adoption of small cells, as highlighted in documents recently published as part of the Small Cell Forum’s Smart Enterprise Release (http://scf.io/en/documents/017_-_R6_-_Multi-Operator_Market_Drivers.php). But SCaaS (small cells as a service) opportunities are also growing in the public WiFi sector, as recent deals announced by Ericsson and Arqiva illustrate.

SDN adoption drives growth of NWaaS

By Caroline Gabriel

One of the most immediate objectives of AT&T’s move towards SDN and virtualization is to expand its network as a service (NWaaS) activities. The more flexible a network is, the more it can be ‘sliced’ into separate virtual sections dedicated to a particular application, enterprise customer or service provider. Capacity in the slices can be dialled up or down as those users need it, and charged on an on-demand basis.
