Standing tall in Singapore with Sonny Chan and CSYA

A striking eco-friendly building in Singapore’s business district stands tall as a statement of Web Structures’ innovation and engineering skills – and its long-term relationship with leading architects CSYA. 

Web Structures has worked with award-winning architect Sonny Chan’s acclaimed Singapore-based practice on ground-breaking and iconic projects across Asia in 22 years of successful collaboration. 

The Tokio Marine Center is just one of those projects, a fascinating facade of intersecting concrete columns, designed to resemble a bamboo cluster, makes the 21-storey office building a major local landmark.

From agri-resorts to circus tents: engineering doesn’t get any more varied than this!

From an ambitious mountain agri-resort in the Malaysian Highlands to circus tents for Cirque du Soleil, Quarters 2 and 3 in 2015 for Web Structures have brought in some varied projects.

The Web team is working on a design competition for the development of an agri-township near Cameron Highlands in Malaysia on a site covering an area of more than 3,000 acres that will include residential, commercial, cable car stations and other agri-tourism attractions.

In Singapore, Web Structures’ experts have been tasked the design and supervision of circus tents for the world famous Cirque du Soleil’s Totem show in partnership with architect and M&E engineer Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Sports park’s winning team goes for gold

An innovative sports park engineered by the Web Structures’ team has delivered a gold medal winning performance in prestigious awards for Malaysian architectural excellence.

The PERMATA pintar Auditorium and Sports Park, designed by GDP architects, also won a silver medal in this year’s PAM Awards, the premier award for architecture in Malaysia.

The judges described the striking design of the park, which includes an auditorium, running track, football field, Olympic-sized swimming pool and spectator facilities, as “excellent and inventive”.

Focus on China sees dedicated region-specific website launch

Web Structures’ focus on growing its presence in China continues with the launch of a dedicated Mandarin-language website.

The practice’s continuous efforts to support its Shanghai office also include the creation of China-specific social media pages highlighting Web Structures projects across the globe.

As part of this work, Web Structures’ series of ‘Spotlight’ project videos are also being modified and given Mandarin subtitles and voice overs.
