Wheatbelt Joint Priorities
Working together for the benefit of the Wheatbelt
The Wheatbelt Development Commission (WDC) and Regional Development Australia (RDA) Wheatbelt Inc Boards met at the Merredin CRC on Thursday 13th June. This annual strategic development meeting is where the two organisations develop a plan for the coming year to collaboratively identify areas of regional priority to work on jointly, as well as those areas which will be addressed individually, based on resources and ability to derive impact for effort.

Our Wheatbelt is a huge area, both in geographical and industry terms. Our aim is to work collaboratively across all three levels of Government to make the Wheatbelt an even better place to live, work, visit and invest in. RDA Wheatbelt is the only on the ground organisation conduit to the Federal Government, WDC is the State Government’s representative and we work to engage with the 42 Local Governments (LGAs) to promote the opportunities and address the challenges of this region. To achieve this we work with all stakeholders including business, industry and community.

We direct our attention to where we can do the most good and achieve great outcomes for the region; limited resources mean we are not able to be everything to everybody but we do have some huge outcomes to be excited about. Our shared priorities for the coming year will be the same as last year, based on aged care, telecommunications, transport and business development, with a focus on jobs growth, investment/trade ready capacity building and understanding the technology driven future.

You should think of our organisations as the ‘go to’ place for so many activities, topics or issues and if you have a project or concept and want help, we can assist, or direct you, to be able to develop application skills, match projects with funding streams and network with like organisations. We are all about connecting people and opportunities with solutions.

Who do you need to talk to? Contact either the WDC or RDA Wheatbelt and we can direct you to the best person/organisation to assist.
