There has been much going on with the Community Collaborative and Monument Fund. Read on for the latest update.
The San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Fund projects are taking shape. The Watershed Conservation Authority and the U.S. Forest Service started on the improvements to the Oaks Picnic Area and had some help from volunteers during the Celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Monument on October 16, 2015. The National Forest Foundation will be posting the list of projects that are currently funded to the Collaborative website.
This fall, Community Collaborative members focused on group membership and work priorities for the months ahead. Forest Supervisor Jeffrey Vail described recent changes at the Angeles National Forest, and celebrated the one-year anniversary of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. The Community Collaborative also discussed the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Fund and identified priority agenda items for future meetings.
After welcoming a new youth representative, the Community Collaborative voted to invite three community members representing academia, archaeology, and equestrian interests. The Collaborative will meet to discuss applications in December, and expects to fill seats representing fishing and hunting/shooting in the next month.
