ACTION ALERT

PEOPLE OF FAITH RALLY OCT. 26
for RANKED CHOICE VOTING AND CIVILITY

Please join clergy and faith leaders from across Maine on Wednesday, October 26 at 10:00 AM in Portland to call for more civility in politics and a system that empowers voters with more voice: Ranked Choice Voting!

Here's a way for UUs and other people of faith to stand together publicly for our Fifth Principle, our belief in a strong democratic system where everyone has a voice.  We can help win Question 5 on the November ballot to enact Ranked Choice Voting!

Date: Wednesday, October 26
Time: 10:00 AM Start / 9:45 AM Arrival
Location: First Parish Portland UU, 425 Congress Street, Portland

Please RSVP by contacting Adam Pontius at adam@rcvmaine.com or 751-0866.

We know that the negativity of this year's campaigns has bred cynicism and disengagement in many voters, weakening participation and hurting democracy.  Mainers deserve better.

Unitarian Universalists are Democracy People!  Let's get out there and encourage our fellow Mainers to support a better voting system which will make politics more positive and aspirational while also enhancing voters' power.

Ranked Choice Voting (Question 5) is MUUSAN's TOP PRIORITY among the November ballot questions.   Here's our Issue Paper.

MUUSAN's own Dale McCormick (Augusta City Councilor, former state Senator, former State Treasurer) serves on the Committee for Ranked Choice Voting.

We hope that you will join MUUSAN and clergy and faith leaders from across Maine on October 26 to demonstrate broad support for this nonpartisan reform. Please let Adam know you are coming, and help spread the word!  Thank you!
