Two Towns of Jasper          • • •           TODAY

In 1998 James Byrd, Jr., a black man, was chained to a truck and dragged to death by three white men. In this powerful documentary, two film crews, one black and one white, document the aftermath of the murder in the town of Jasper, Texas. Filmmakers Marco Williams and Whitney Dow looked to understand the crime through the citizens of Jasper, since both victim and perpetrators were locals. The result is an explicit accounting of the racial divide in America.
