Virgin Money London Marathon Ballot

It may be over a year away, but if you would like to be in with a chance of representing UKnetrunner at the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon, you must first attempt to enter the London Marathon ballot when it opens after this year's race (April 13th). Only members that have entered, but been rejected, are eligible for the club ballot, which takes place in November. However, if the London Marathon ballot closes due to reaching its limit before you have been able to enter, please e-mail within one week to be eligible for the club draw.

Parkrun Handicap

The Parkrun handicap will return this summer. It will run on Saturdays from 31st May until 28th June. Simply run any parkrun on these dates to enter the handicap.

Parkruns are free, timed 5k runs at a park near you. Go to to get registered. Once that is done enter your parkrun ID number at  If you have already registered for parkrun then the ID number is printed on your barcode.

How it Works

All club members will be automatically entered in this handicap event, we’ll calculate the handicap times and let you know at the start of June what these are.

Your handicap time is based on your best performance over 5k over the past 12 months and will be caluclated prior to May 31st. Full details at ... dicaps.php

The Winner(s)

Will be the runner with the best time, handicap adjusted, in any of the parkruns they have run in June. The winner will get a 5k trophy presented at the AGM at the end of year plus the immortality of an entry on the honours board on the club website.

In addition to the main prize there will be a small prize (as yet to be determined) for the winners in the following categories.

• Most parkruns visited over the 5 weeks i.e Different parkrun locations.
• Most consistent performer. This is for any runner who has ran at least 3 parkruns in June. Their 3rd best time will be used.
• Best age-graded performance. The age-graded scores are listed against each performance on the parkrun website

Round Norfolk Relay 2014

It is great news that the Round Norfolk Relay will return on 20th & 21st September and UKnetrunner will once again be entering a team.  The relay follows the county boundary of Norfolk over a distance of 197 miles, divided into 17 unequal stages and completed in 24 hours.  it is a great race and a good way to get to know your fellow clubmates.

There are stages for all abilities from 5 miles to 20 miles, on or off road and day or night. If you would be interested in running or being part of the support team on this unique event head over to the forum at
