Congratulations to all the graduates of our Winter program. It was a packed set of classes and so exciting to watch all of you step into your lives with mindfulness. Congratulations to the first cohort of the Mindful Self-Compassion course too. Thank you for participating and we look forward to the next round in September.
Our Registrar, Cathy Shaw, left the OMC last month for other adventures. We extend our deepest gratitude to Cathy for four years of administering the OMC programs and ministering care to all of us. Cathy brought a warmth and special attention to applicants and participants of the M4 programs. Best wishes for a terrific future, Cathy!
This month we welcome Hillary Dolan as our new Registrar and Administrator of the M4 programs. Hillary brings a lovely enthusiasm and strong organizational skills to the OMC. She is already setting up several information sessions for the Fall programs and is getting ready to meet everyone, teachers and participants alike. Welcome, Hillary!

Our residential retreats were very popular both at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies in May and at Galilee Retreat Centre in June. You can listen to the Galilee Heart of Mindfulness Retreat talks here. The Mindful Self-Compassion public talk by Dr. Christopher Germer hosted by Mindfulness Ottawa was very well-attended. The weekend retreat that followed was a smash hit at the Rideau Tennis Club ending with love-love! Self-Compassion meditations are available here.
The City of Ottawa became the first city in Canada to proclaim June 10th Men's Mental Health Awareness Day. This initiative has been championed by our very own J.F. Claude who is dedicated to bringing awareness to men's mental health issues. Depression does not show up in the same way with men as with women and is often missed in health screenings.
