Mindfulness Starts Here!
Dear Lynette:
News
Happy Summer Days!
Congratulations to our new graduates of the May-June M4 programs! Welcome to the practice of mindfulness and we hope to see you at our monthly gatherings. Remember continuous practice is what makes mindfulness useful to us!
Our program Fall programs will begin information sessions late-August and details are posted here. Contact Hillary to receive a list of all the dates and reserve your spot.
Please note we will be on Summer Hours at the OMC from July 15 to August 14 with limited phone coverage. You can still leave a message or reach us via email.
Mindfulness in Our Community
Our Heart of Mindfulness silent retreat in June at Galilee Retreat Centre was a beautiful occasion to re-connect with old friends and new. The weather was perfect as was the practice! Please join us again next year (June 24-26, 2016) - and remember the retreat fills up VERY quickly! Registration opens in October 2015.
We are happy to welcome Craig Mackie to the roster of teachers at the OMC. Craig will be teaching courses in Transformational Mindfulness, a program that can be a follow-up to the M4 Core, Burnout or Pain Management courses. He is also accepting new clients for individual therapy. You can read about Craig here.
In May, Dr. Lynette Monteiro attended the Breathworks retreat at Garrison Institute in NY. Breathworks is a pain management program designed by Vidyamala Burch and offered in the UK. They also provide online programs that we highly recommend. More information is available here.
You can also read about mindfulness and pain management on our blog here.
Drs. Frank Musten & Lynette Monteiro will be leading a retreat on Ethics-Based Mindfulness at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies in July. Following that Frank will be presenting a paper in Vienna on mindfulness for police service members at the Congress of Law and Mental Health. The 2015 M4 Teacher Training retreat is set to go July 23-26 with several new health care professionals continuing their training in mindfulness.
Other presentations include webinars for the CCAC and the North American Drama Therapy Association and a workshop for hospital health care professionals. Dr. Monteiro will be offering a one day workshop, Cultivating the Five Skillful Habits, at the Royal and sponsored by the Association of Spirituality and Mental Health. This workshop is full and there is a wait list.
