Headmistress's Message
Dear Parents

Open Events
Your daughters were outstanding ambassadors for BGS at our Open Events last week (see photo above) and we are extremely proud of all of them. I am pleased to let you know that three of our sixth formers who wrote an article about this - Emily Wilson, Sophie Parker and Lucy Leech - have had part of their story published in the Bury Times this week: perhaps the beginning of one or more illustrious journalistic careers?

Pupil Progress
Pupils have been making excellent progress this half term, both inside and outside of the classroom. As we come near to the end of the first half term of the year, teachers have been assessing progress made and assigning grades accordingly; next week you will be sent an Interim Report which will include an explanation of what your daughter’s grades represent. Every pupil has spoken with her teachers about her progress this term and should therefore have a clear idea about the steps she needs to take next to continue to improve. If we have any concerns at all about your daughter’s grades, we will contact you;  in the same way, should you have any queries whatsoever about your daughter’s progress, please don’t hesitate to contact her form tutor in the first instance. I hope you will have time to talk to your daughter about how she has got on and to enjoy her achievements!

New website
I am very pleased to let you know that we are expecting to be in a position to launch our new website next week, following a lot of hard work and a long (and, at times, tortuous!) journey towards its completion. I do hope you find it attractive, easy to navigate and helpful when launch date arrives.

University applications

Nearly all our girls have now submitted their university applications and many have offers coming in already: the sterling work of the Sixth Form Team has put our students in a very strong position.

First ever Old Boys’ and Old Girls’ Association meet-up
This week saw an historic BGS ‘first’: the first joint meet up between the Old Boys’ Association and Old Girls’ Association in London. Mr Cassidy, Headmaster, and I were proud to attend to represent the School and hear fond memories and reminiscences from former pupils who thoroughly enjoyed their time at BGS.

Staff Training Day
A reminder that Friday 20th October is a Staff Training Day and therefore the half term break begins at that point.
