The Man, The Myth, The Legend - During this month, we've been informing you via our social media outlets and our industry's trade magazines about the retirement of our very own, John Briggs. Well, today (6/30/15) is the day - today John Briggs officially retires...
John Briggs has spent his entire adult life working “behind the scenes” of theatre, film and event production. At one time, he was the technical director and later the producer of a local children’s theatre group in Michigan. He has been a past
president of IATSE Local 395 and partnered with others to create the company Alternative Light, cultivating a career working with some of the most recognizable names both in live theatre and popular music. John has received many accreditations for the implementation of advances in theatre technology, and has been described by many as a walking encyclopedia of theatrical technology. His greatest gift is his ability to teach, mentor, and share his vast knowledge with humor and a delivery unique to only John Briggs.
On Thursday June 25th, we celebrated John's retirement by hosting a party at our headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. The party was a great success, thanks to a big turnout of John's friends, colleagues, and admirers.
In addition to the party held for John, John received several unique gifts in honor of his many years of service to TLS Productions, Inc. A table and chairs set in the shape of Michigan's Upper & Lower Peninsulas were given to John, upon which attendees at John's party were invited to inscribe their wishes for a happy retirement.
In celebration of John's retirement, TLS Productions, Inc. has partnered with Eastern Michigan University to create the John Briggs Endowed Scholarship for EMU's Entertainment & Design Technology program. This scholarship creates a legacy at
Eastern Michigan University by honoring John Briggs for his devoted service to the entertainment industry and the field of theatre technology.
This scholarship honors the passion, dedication, and commitment to the field of theatrical technology by Eastern Michigan University Alumnus - John Briggs. Over the years, John Briggs and TLS Productions, Inc. have generously given their time and equipment to assure EMU Theatre productions are of the highest quality, while using the most cutting-edge technology. EMU students appreciate the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology that prepares them for their professional careers in technical theatre. The scholarship will be awarded annually to an Eastern Michigan University student majoring in Entertainment Design & Technology.

As far as we at TLS Productions, Inc. are concerned, there will never be another like John Briggs. His involvement with TLS Productions, Inc. over the years can be considered as one of the cornerstones upon which we’ve built the company that we are today. We wish John Briggs nothing but the best, and we hope he enjoys his retirement to the fullest.

While we are sad to see John Briggs go, we're also happy and excited to announce a new addition to our Sales & Marketing Team. TLS Productions, Inc. is proud to welcome - Emily Ann Jugowicz-Miller!
Emily is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and holds a BA in Theatre Arts and Arts Management with a focus in Stage Management. While enrolled at EMU, she had the pleasure of working with a few professional theatre companies, including: Performance Network, Mosaic Youth Theatre, BlackBag Productions, Threefold Productions, Waterworks Theatre, and Warren Civic Theatre. She describes herself as a go-getter who loves spreadsheets, sticky notes, and kittens. Emily is excited to join the sales and marketing team here at TLS Productions, Inc., and looks forward to getting to chat with you! Emily's official start date at TLS Productions, Inc. is Monday July 6th. Welcome aboard, Emily!

TLS Productions, Inc. is proud to announce our 2nd Annual Open House & New Product Showcase, scheduled for Friday September 25th, 2015 from 11am to 7pm - at our headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Join us for a great day of lighting, rigging, A/V, and special effects product demonstrations from some of the biggest names in the industry, such as ETC, Creative Stage Lighting, American DJ, Elation, Stagemaker, The Light Source, Lex Products, Leprecon, Robe, Martin-Harman, Total Structures, GLP, LynTec, Avolites, Apollo, AND THE LIST CONTINUES TO GROW!
We're also plotting and planning to offer training sessions involving some of the hottest products the industry has to offer, these sessions will be scheduled for the week of the Open House & New Product Showcase - so stay tuned for further details!
