Since the last newsletter, we have both installed and struck the lighting at the Miami International Auto Show. We have installed the rigging and lighting for the Lexus, Scion, and Toyota booths at the Los Angeles Auto Show. We also installed the audio for the Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram booths. As if this was not enough, we have already begun the lighting and rigging install for the Toyota and Lexus booths at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It has been a long haul for me personally, as I am on day number 22 away from home and have two more to go. Needless to say, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving at home with my family and a long weekend off.
I did spend two days at the LDI Convention in Las Vegas, where I had a chance to wander the exhibit floor. The proliferation of LED fixtures continues as does the move towards lower wattage sources with greater output. As always, it was the camaraderie of my industry fellows that made the show truly worthwhile to attend.
After getting to marvel at all the new, cutting edge technology at the show, I find myself reflecting on why we, as LD's, specify the gear we do for our shows. In the great scheme of things, it boils down to availability. We specify the gear we can get, in the quantities we need, that will do the job we need it to do, at the price our client can afford to pay. It is as simple as that. It does not really matter which profile spot your show uses, or which of the new LED heads you have on your show. It is the creative energy and artistic eye of your programmer and designer that makes the real difference.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with the people you love. As for me, I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Stay safe and healthy through the coming holiday season. Moreover, please, make sure to take some time off to enjoy it with your family and friends!
Thanksgiving Quote: "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." - John F. Kennedy
