It is a very busy time of year around TLS Productions, Inc. It has always been this way for us. With the fall comes the auto show season and all the pre-production that goes with it. Last month was a very busy month as well, ending with a very successful First Annual Open House & New Product Showcase at our headquarters in Ann Arbor. To cap the month off, we had the culmination of our collaboration with Mindfield & XL Video at DLECTRICITY.
Last months newsletter was chock full of pictures, so my little part made way for the eye candy. Now that I have the chance, I'd like to say what a fantastic job our staff designer Robert "Bobby" Glowacki did with the lighting and programming, in cooperation with Mindfield and XL Video, for the incredible projection mapping AV masterpiece - 6. & 7. P.O.V. at 2014's DLECTRICITY.

Bobby's artistic vision and passion for the art of lighting was obvious to all who saw the exhibit. I know this is true because I was there to hear the oohs, aahs and applause during the event. Through long days and sleepless nights of programming, he not only persevered, but excelled. This is what TLS Productions, Inc.'s Design Services department brings to the table. Creative and artistic lighting by dedicated, passionate professionals - on time and on budget.
I would be amiss if I did not mention that the team at Mindfield did an incredible job with the content. The lighting was not the star here; it was the incredible visuals from Mindfield. I also want to give big props to the XL Video team who worked so very hard to make sure the projection was perfect.
Keep an eye out for articles in PLSN and Studio Live Design about the job that was done at this year's DLECTRICITY. They should be out in the November and / or December issues.
I will be in LA for a large portion of the month of November for the Los Angeles Auto Show. Hopefully, I can take the time to reconnect with some of you LA natives while I am in town. Thank you for your time and attention, and please, stay safe and healthy through the coming holiday season!

Did you know that TLS Productions, Inc. is an Electronic Theater Controls Factory Authorized Service Center with ETC Factory Authorized Field Service Providers on staff? Our ETC Field Service Providers handle a variety of functions – advising contractors on proper methods for installing various products, providing phone tech support, providing onsite tech support when problems arise, updating operating software and doing new system commissioning along with owner training. And when needed, we can provide loaner equipment or acquire equipment direct from the factory, we can also facilitate factory repairs as needed. So, what else have we been up to since September's newsletter? In addition to Doyle Martin's mention of our First Annual Open House & New Product Showcase, 2014's DLECTRICITY, and the Los Angeles Auto Show, we're also busy prepping for the Miami International Auto Show and the rest of the busy auto show season ahead! We've also, as always, been hard at work with local productions and installations here in Michigan, as well as various productions in Chicago and numerous other locations. And, on October 18th, 2014 - TLS Productions, Inc. participated in Eastern Michigan University's Annual High School Drama Day.

For years, TLS Productions, Inc. has helped Eastern Michigan University provide Michigan high school students an opportunity to gain hands on experience with the latest in entertainment lighting technology, by contributing equipment and expertise for EMU's Annual High School Drama Day. This year, Robert "Bobby" Glowacki, Lighting Designer & Assistant Production Manager for TLS Productions, Inc., and Dustin Miller, Lighting Technician for TLS Productions, Inc., and graduate of EMU, put together a rig for the event that was perfect for the Frank Ross Laboratory Theatre space where the lighting technology workshop took place. This was EMU's second biggest Drama Day, attended by more than 280 high school students from all over Michigan. Those who attended the lighting workshops were introduced to a variety of LED and moving light fixtures controlled by a grandMA console, all of which was contributed by TLS Productions, Inc. Attending students were also introduced to EMU's new Entertainment Design & Technology program, which benefits from a partnership with TLS Productions, Inc. and others.
By partnering with private companies like TLS Productions, Inc., a public university like EMU is able to offer a very credible degree in Entertainment Design & Technology. With the help of TLS Productions, Inc., our students are able to experience working with a range of equipment that would normally be out of reach for an institution this size, not to mention the professional connections and advice that come from the partnership. This partnership could potentially become a model for how education in a highly technical field can be offered more affordably at public universities such as EMU.
