From Steve....

It’s always a positive sign when another school wishes to send a teacher to observe how we do things at Cottage.  Such was the case this week when a teacher from Hilliard Christian School observed a session of the ‘Letters & Sounds’ in the P/1 class this week.  As an independent school, we need to encourage as much of this cross fertilisation as possible.
The weather has certainly improved of late (hope I haven’t jinxed things by saying that), and with it the UV index has crept up.  While officially we don’t expect to be wearing sun screen or hats until Term 4, nature doesn’t always follow the rules.  So if as parents you would like to encourage your child to wear a sun hat during outside time, then we will do our best to support you.
This Saturday is of course the Working Bee, and the last one for this year.  Already during the course of the year we have made significant inroads into the maintenance plan which was developed last year by Fairbrothers.  Your willingness to comply with the Parent Participation Policy is one of the cornerstones to the financial success and sustainability of the school.  It also underpins the belief that as a community we can support the school that you have all chosen for individual reasons.  I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

The Kinders enjoyed painting plywood penguins that will parade on Hobart’s waterfront during the Australian Antarctic Festival this weekend. The Littlies and Middlies 1/2 children also created beautifully painted works to display. 5000 penguins were donated to Tasmanian schools by The Mawson’s Hut Foundation. Click on the website link for a detailed program of events.

The Kinder photos is this newsletter edition were taken on their visit to the Sub-Antarctic plant house at The Botanical Gardens.

French Knitting Fundraiser

Thanks again to all the knitters and their sponsors.
Arthur's French knitting has been used to yarn bomb the handrail down the stairs to the Kinders so go and check it out.
We raised a grand total of $206 which will be very much appreciated by the Future Hope Orphanage.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the French knitting fundraiser.
