Jump Start: Did you enjoy the family bush dance as much as Kate did? It has inspired her to repeat some of these moves, so for a few Thursdays this term, just before the kids are called in, please join us for dancing on the Green Space: easy steps, soothingly repetitive, great music and we all start the day with a smile.
FOR SALE: The large sailcloth which was removed from the Biggies deck is still up for sale! Just needs a good clean: Make us an offer! See Annette

A warm welcome to our school  community to Harrison and his parents Aleksandra and Brendon. Harrison joined the Kinder group this term.

From Steve.....

Welcome back everyone to Term 4 and the final sprint to the end of the Year.  It’s a 10 week term and we’ve got a diary full of great experiences across the school.

Reminder number 1: Term 4 is a hat term.  No hat means that you can’t run around in the sun, but have to sit in the shade instead.  So let’s look out those broad brimmed hats. Click here to see Cottage School Hat Guidelines.

On Monday when families were enjoying another day of holidays together, the entire staff attended a full day professional development around the theory and practice of the 1-2-3 Magic Behaviour and Emotional Coaching Program.  This is a school wide approach to modifying unwanted behaviour, and to provide children with opportunities to develop the important connections within their brain and to practice self-regulation of their own behaviour through toggling (switching) between their mental accelerators and brakes.  As we know that as working parents you find it difficult to attend workshops for this kind of thing, the school is in the process of purchasing a video for parents to borrow.  Watch this space.

Reminder number 2: Students have been reminded that if something happens at school which they feel uncomfortable about, they should share this with their classroom teacher, the duty teacher, or a trusted adult in the school so that it can be acted upon immediately.

Our value to start the term is STEWARDSHIP
  • Stewardship is looking after our environment.
  • Stewardship is being sustainable.
  • Stewardship is connected to health and well being.
During the holidays we had some trades people looking after the school environment, which now boasts new sail shade cloth over the sand pit and Biggies outdoor area, new Gathering Steps, and several minor improvements which I caught up with.  The maintenance plan is going well.

Committee are working hard to get through all of the agenda items, which seem to be increasing rather than decreasing!  But an important date to put in your diaries now is the AGM, which will be held on Thursday 16 February.  Also that every attempt is being made to provide you the community with a small set of potential future options which have passed an initial strength and weakness test for viability.  The goal is to provide you these limited options before the end of the year with a view to holding a community forum early next year to flesh out which option we should persue.

Let’s have a great term everyone.

2016 now includes Term 4 dates!

During the holidays...

Even though there were a few wet, blustery days during the school holidays, we still managed to get our 2 new shade sails put up and the old, rotten 'gathering' steps outside the Green Cottage were also replaced.

Some of our fabulous audience!

A Golden Wave goes to the Middlies 1/2 class for a cracking start to Term 4 and a Golden Handshake to Bella for settling back into Cottage School life so joyfully.
