I have to start this newsletter by saying how much I enjoyed the concert last Friday as I’m sure you did too. Wasn’t it great to listen to the music performances from across the school, and to hear those French accents as the children played out different scenarios. And what about the Biggies play about Federation? Truly a master class in playwriting and performance. Well done and thankyou to all the students and teachers who made the concert such a success, and thank you to all the parents who made it along on the day.
The selection group have chosen a short list to interview for the Teacher Assistant position, and interviews will take place next Monday.
On Tuesday our Year 6 students enjoyed the traditional Leaver’s Day by heading to the Glenorchy Pool, Botanical Gardens for lunch, and the Climbing Edge for a final work out. By popular request, the evening meal was held at a Chinese restaurant in town.
Thanks to the Social Committee for providing our BBQ lunch on Wednesday as part of the Picnic Day. No one has a problem with putting away a snag or three! Despite the fact that it was blowing a gale at school, Bellerive Beach was calm and sheltered. So thanks to Georgie and the Year 6 leaders who organised and ran the events at the beach much to the delight of everyone.
The 2016 Year 6 Leavers Ceremony has seen a fine crop of individuals pass on from Cottage School to their respective high schools. We have no doubt that they will go on to succeed each in their own way, and we look forward to inviting them back next year to play their part with the 2017 Year 6 transition program. Our best wishes to each of them.
Of course by the time you all get to read this, it will be officially the end of the school year and the beginning of some great family time together. A time to reflect on the past year and to make plans for the coming year. A time to recharge the batteries, to wind down, or to get going. A time to do all those things that there just doesn’t seem time to do, or to just do nothing at all. But whatever you end up doing, we hope that you enjoy it and that you all keep safe and happy until we get back together in February.
