Imposing ill conceived U.S. sanctions around the world, while avoiding rational tariffs on imports is absurd. Imperialism to punish governments fail and diminishes all those false claims about free trade.

Destructive Sanctions Gone Mad

The Russian sanctions have created concern for the European Union, which is upset that the U.S lawmakers are threatening to undo its regional energy policy. The sanctions may be mostly symbolic moves for Congress, but they are very real to Europeans who do business with neighboring Russia.

The EU has indicated that its members will retaliate. The French government, which has faced its own election interference by Putin, has spoken out about the sanctions, saying that they appear to violate international law, and that the EU would have to respond. Sen. John McCain, one of the leading champions of Russian sanctions, says that it is the job of the EU to come around to the legislation, not vice versa.
Rhetoric is meaningless without followup action. China and India ignored US sanctions on Iran, buying its oil, Washington unable to do anything to stop it.

It’s time for a European declaration of independence from Washington, its member states serving their own interests, not America’s when following its diktats harms them.

New US sanctions on Russia have nothing to do with phony accusations of US election meddling and nonexistent aggression against Ukraine.

They have everything to do with wanting greater access to European markets for US natural gas producers.

They continue longstanding efforts to contain, marginalize, weaken and isolate Russia – its main geopolitical rival along with China for their sovereign independence, not for any threat to US security they pose.

"We consider this as being against international law, plain and simple," Brigitte Zypries told the Funke Mediengruppe newspaper chain.

"Of course we don't want a trade war. But it is important the European Commission now looks into countermeasures,” she added.

According to the minister, “the Americans can not punish German companies because they operate economically in another country."

The U.S. sanctions could take effect as early as this month after discussions are completed in the U.N. Security Council over a new resolution critical of North Korea's recent launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The Chinese companies covered by the U.S. sanctions would also be unable to utilize the U.S. financial system.

If Washington proceeds with the sanctions, they would constitute among the largest in scale of any directed at a third nation due to North Korea's nuclear weapons and missile programs.

The move could deepen the gap between the United States and China over how to deal with Pyongyang because the sanctions would affect major Chinese companies that have conducted trade with North Korea.

Tokyo on Friday has announced the blacklisting of two Chinese companies for their connections with North Korea. The announcement comes as concerns rise Pyongyang is prepping for another missile test.

Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said five entities, including two Chinese organizations, and nine individuals will be “newly subject to asset freezing” and other unilateral punishment.

“We firmly oppose any other country to impose unilateral sanctions outside the framework of the UN Security Council, and we especially oppose the sanctions targeted at Chinese enterprises and individuals,” Lu Kang, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said at a press briefing in Beijing.

He added that Tokyo should be aware that “China will not accept the wrongdoing and will require Japan to withdraw this wrong decision,” warning that sanctions will “create major political hurdles for China-Japan relations.”

McCain isn’t a conservative, a nationalist, a constitutionalist, an America Firster or any other related ideology. The fact is that John McCain is nothing more than a big spending, open borders liberal who has far more in common with the Democrats than he does the Republicans.

John McCain is a neocon globalist. His open borders, globalism philosophy is the product of one whose interests are aligned with the US Chamber of Commerce, not middle class Americans. He is Wall Street, not Main Street. McCain only cares about getting more non-Americans into the country, and getting accolades from the MSM for supporting a “pathway to citizenship”, i.e. amnesty.

The thing that people like McCain never seem to learn is that the favor they wish to curry from the MSM only happens when they are savaging those on the right, and when they are sabotaging their own party. Once McCain got the nomination in 2008 to run against Barack Obama for president, suddenly the press turned on him like wolves. Anyone who follows all of this knew that would happen. Yet, even after losing to Obama, McCain went back to his old ways and continued to skewer conservatives and conservative values with regularity.

So now here comes McCain once again to bask in the limelight. After being released from his recent stay in the hospital, McCain returns to Senate with much fanfare, as he gives the GOP the 50th vote (VP Pence then cast the tie-breaking 51st vote) to bring Obamacare back to the floor for debate. Then, just as quickly, McCain votes against his own party – again, and stops repeal of Obamacare. This was a bill that passed with zero Republican votes and repealing it was a major plank of the platform that helped elect Donald Trump as President, and helped maintain GOP majorities in both houses. But true to form, McCain sabotaged the effort.

Papal States become Vatican City

When a church becomes a secular state with a government or even an army, one needs to ask if the organized religion is more devoted to a political entity, than a spiritual belief. A contemporary example could be the Iranian Mullahs, but for the definitive historic paradigm has been the Catholic Church. Catholic translates into universal. Notwithstanding, the crucial question that is traditionally avoided seeks to ask if the quid essential Christendom Church has operated more as an ingrained assemblage than a shepherd for saving souls.

Impact of IMF SDRs for Commercial Trade

The global corporatist economy works differently from business transactions at your neighborhood convenience store. Ostensibly, the International Monetary Fund was set up to allow the G20 nations to umpire the ground rules to play nice in macro trade. Platitudes about promoting job growth or third world development are the realm of public relations for the central banks. The impact of the IMF on virtually all countries, vividly seen in every crisis whether real or contrived, always has a political objective that underpins the economic functions. As confidence in national currencies falter, the big sugar daddy loves to intervene, provided they pull the strings.

The Cyprus Great Bank Robbery

When does banksters’ extortion become outright theft? The latest example and escalation by the placing a levy fee on bank deposits in the tax haven of Cyprus illustrates the bold step of seizing private liquid saving accounts, under the guise of a government tax. The prospects of an all out run on the banking system have jumped tenfold. Essentially, a government is using the power of the state, to steal funds not because of the bankruptcy of a banking institution, but because of a failure of the entire EU financial system. The forbidding precedent of a seizure of individual wealth, by a stroke of a pen, runs contrary to the shrinking confidence in fiduciary trust of cash placed in banking accounts.

Secession Movement Ready to Take Hold

All the buzz in the aftermath of the last election is that secession is in the air. Despite the improbable prospects that the globalists, that control the federal government, would allow the upstart masses to leave the dominion of Disunion States, it is promising that the country builds critical mass for dissolution. Secession in this day is not your call to arms in the defense of home. "Honest Abe’s" version of despotism caused many politicians to "Wave the bloody shirt", but today’s crop of brave leaders just asks you to sign a petition to beg for a cordial severance. Just imagine the response from the unprincipled governmental career class. The re-education FEMA facilities are ready to become today’s "Camp Douglas" detention centers.

Paul Tillich: the 'Apostle to the Intellectuals'

During this modern age few theologians have had more influence than Paul Tillich. His approach to cosmic questions dealt with the method of correlation found in science and the meaning of faith. In terms of his theological method Tillich's basic presupposition is that 'faith need not be unacceptable to contemporary culture and contemporary culture need not be unacceptable to faith' (Ford p. 88). Thus he sought to develop what has been termed a 'theology of culture' using the method of correlation. His appeal can be seen in his remarks: “Theology must be "answering theology"; it must adapt the Christian message to the modern mind while maintaining its essential truth and unique character” (Grenz/Olson p.117)

U.S. sanctions on Venezuela a double-edged sword

For Democrats and their propaganda arm — progressive media outlets like the Washington Post and New York Times — it’s all about “resistance.” Stop the Trump/Republican agenda by any means necessary. Call for Donald Trump’s impeachment or removal via the Constitution’s 25th Amendment; in other words, overthrow a president legally and duly elected by 63 million Americans, even though there’s no hard evidence to support such actions.

Pelosi says future of her leadership role 'unimportant,' but is a 'master legislator'

“Self-promotion is a terrible thing, but somebody has to do it,” the California lawmaker told “Fox News Sunday. “I am a master legislator. I know the budget to the nth degree ... I feel very confident about the support I have in my caucus."

Zarif signalled that: a) Iran can live with Trump’s sanctions; b) Iran stands to gain more by complying with the JCPOA and earn international goodwill (especially among the world powers); and, c) Iran is utterly free anyway to pursue its missile program (which is indigenous and does not depend on Western technology).

Some Iranian news reports recently mentioned the names of several Iranian citizens in jail in the US for sanctions violations.
