For three days in March, the Eastside Flea will be back again taking over the UBC Student Union Building (SUB) with a fun & diverse marketplace to give students the opportunity to buy affordable goods from our ESF roster of vendors, as well as sell some of their own unwanted belongings (school supplies, books, clothing, furniture, house decor, etc) as well!! He has almost 60 years of experience as a graphic designer and calligrapher, and for over 46 years has run his own design studio in Vancouver. As one of Canada’s foremost calligraphers he has lectured and taught across Canada, the US, Japan and Europe. More

Kirigami Paper Cutting 1:00 - 3:00 pm 
Using freeform paper-cutting, Rachael Ashe creates intricate abstract artwork. She will demonstrate kirigami, the Japanese style of symmetrical cut paper design combining paper folding and cutting. Rachael will also have samples for visitors to try their hands at kirigami. More

Laser 101 2:00 - 4:00 pm 
Learn how to use a laser cutter to cut, etch, and engrave designs in a variety of materials up to 36" x 24" and up to 3/4" thick in this safety and orientation class. Work with wood, acrylic, paper, cardboard, fabric, leather, and much more. More
