Dry Air Clay Class (Ages 7-10) - 4:00 PM
In this class, we will learn basic hand-building skills utilizing air-dry clay. We will learn both coil building and slab rolling to build dimensionally. Over the course of the several weeks we will discuss the methods of making with clay and work to create sculptures. On the first day we will sketch several creatures and in the following weeks, we will work to construct them in clay. Once they dry, the pieces will be painted and finalized. The course aims to reveal basic methods in clay and allow the students to use their imaginations to build their own fantastic creatures. Cost: $170

Chi Hack Night - 6:00 PM
The Chi Hack Night is a free, weekly event in Chicago to build, share and learn about civic tech and tools to create, support, or serve public good. Join us every Tuesday from 6-9:30pm on the 8th floor of the Merchandise Mart to hear from interesting speakers, learn from each other and work on civic projects. Non-techies are very welcome! Keep Moving: Shifting Gears Exhibit at ChiDM all week - 12:00 PM
Keep Moving: Shifting Gears is a celebration of bikes and design, check out the exhibit on Level 3 of Block 37 at the Chicago Design Museum. In conjunction with Keep Moving: Designing Chicago’s Bicycle Culture on view at Expo 72, stories of innovation, freedom, class, gender, manufacturing, and history will encourage visitors to think about how design can make the world a better place.

How to Draw in Museums (Part I) - 5:30 PM
Make the most of your museum trip through the act of drawing the art on view. Join the Smart Museum of Art and The Art Institute of Chicago for a special two-part workshop on drawing in museums. PART I Thursday, December 13. Pick up a sketchbook and pencil and learn secret techniques from an incredible group of Chicago artists who got their start in Hyde Park, the Hairy Who. Part I of this two-part program begins with an in-gallery drawing exercise and a deep dive tour of a masterful painting by Sullen Rocca as well vintage Hyde Park Art Center posters and comix on view in the exhibition The Time Is Now! Then, draw and sketch motifs and Hairy Who-inspired tattoo designs for use in Part II at the Art Institute.

I offer Thursday night adult, BYOB mask making classes at three levels, Beginning ~ Intermediate & Advanced. most Thursday nights. The first two levels are two hour classes offered in a three hour time slot, for you to use as you like. Tuition $200 for 8 weeks... The third level is for those who have taken the first two classes, know the way the studio works, and have personal projects to do. Tuition $30/night.

Artist Talk: Christien Meindertsma - 6:30 PM
Please note this program will now take place in Price Auditorium. Christien Meindertsma thoroughly explores the life of products and raw materials in her work. In some instances, the result of her projects may be the record of a process itself. In others, her investigations lead to commercial products. Careful investigation and documentation, themes of local production and underexplored resources characterize her work. Meindertsma seeks to reveal processes that have become distant in industrialization and encourage a deeper understanding of the materials and products that surround us.

Come one, come all bring whatever smallish (dry) projects and lets have a community MAKE night! Sewing(bring your own home sewing machine), knitting, hand sewing, quilting, applique project, drawing/design project, collage project, latch hooking, water colors, drawing, coding(bring your own laptop), etc. All are welcome to come chill in a friendly space with others.
