This Monday at 8PM, Cerddorion welcomes Voces Nordicae, one of Sweden’s outstanding professional choirs, for their only New York appearance in 2015. In preparation for a residency at the Yale International Choral Festival, Voces Nordicae will present the U.S. premiere of a striking new work, Open Plan Living, and will be joined by members of Cerddorion in singing Swedish and American folk songs.
Stockholm-based vocal ensemble Voces Nordicae, founded in 1999 by conductor Lone Larsen, combine the classical a cappella repertoire combined with folk and popular musical traditions, incorporating improvisation, instrumental elements and ethnic singing styles to offer a varied sound that gives a musical flow.
The ensemble's goal is to convey the music through a strong stage presence. Voces Nordicae sing from memory in order connect more directly with their audience. The ensemble's movements and use of the room allow the listener to feel like a part of the concert.
