Dear Lisa,

By now, you've probably heard about the Save the Rangers resolution which is being adopted and communicated by various groups throughout the province. It's being adapted to reflect different perspectives on why the program is important. Find the basic version on our website.

In late November, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority voted to support our resolution and distribute it via Conservation Ontario to ALL conservation authorities (CAs) in the province. Not surprisingly there are a lot of former Rangers involved in the LSRCA!
Most CAs have received the resolution this month and it will be discussed at a public meeting in January or February. YOU can help by contacting your local or favourite CA and telling them why their support is important. Bring a group to the meeting & make your voices heard!

Who's my MPP?

Also, thanks to Uxbridge, most municipalities in Ontario received and discussed our resolution in November or December. Contact your local municipality or check the minutes from recent meetings to see if they voted to support the resolution. Phone, email or drop into the municipal office to thank them for their support!
If your local CA or municipality voted to support our resolution, please contact your MPP to ensure s/he is aware that many people in their riding support the reinstatement of the Ontario Ranger program!
Here at FORP headquarters, we've also set ourselves a personal goal - we want to meet Premier Kathleen Wynne in person for a face-to-face. We know that if she spoke directly to former Rangers, she would understand the importance of the program and it would be an easy decision to include it in the 2014 budget. So, tell us your connection to Premier Wynne
(no matter how tenuous) to help us get our foot in her door!
With 2014 budget talks in progress, it's vital that our support network continues to grow so that the provincial government realizes how important the Ontario Ranger program is to many different sectors in the province. Remember, the annual cost of the program is just $1.8 million per year which is small change in budget terms.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support. Please help us continue to spread the word about the Ontario Ranger program so it is not forgotten, and can continue to benefit Ontario's youth for many years to come.

Wishing you, your family and friends a happy and healthy 2014!
Alyson, Lisa & everyone at FORP HQ
