Welcome to our Autumn newsletter. Vintage for 2016 has wrapped up and much needed rain has arrived in Langhorne Creek, the Autumn leaves are falling and it is cooling down rather quickly.
Since the 2016 grape vintage wrapped up both Guy and Liz have been busy internationally and locally. Guy is busy pounding the pavements across the US and is heading to the Savour Canada Roadshow in a few days and Liz has just returned from interstate trade tastings.
We are currently preparing for our first "Off the back of the truck" wine sale, Saturday 4th June to be held in Strathalbyn at our Old Grain Store Building.
Stock up your cellar just in time for winter. Taste before you buy.
Take advantage of our back vintage, end of vintage and surplus export wines at great prices.
Be early to avoid disappointment. EFTPOS facilities will be available.
Entry is free.
Vintage Wrap up for 2016
With favourable conditions in Langhorne Creek, vintage kicked off in late January. For Brothers in Arms yields were slightly higher than usual however the growing conditions through early February were to our advantage. This allowed us to ensure a slow, gentle ripening curve which has resulted in great colour, flavour and tannin development. The cabernet started to catch up to the shiraz, which is normally earlier, which led to a busy period in the middle of vintage. There were some great parcels, in particular both the old cabernet and shiraz and the malbec was very strong as well. All in all, 2016 was of higher than average quality and there was plenty of it.
