President's Message

What an amazing journey and life story that Michelle Carter shared with us at our January meeting.  The experiences she had as a lone women living in the former Soviet Union were very interesting and funny.  She experienced many challenges in life, but she never gave up.

At our meeting I mentioned our new “Membership Challenge”. One of our goals this year is to increase our membership, more members equals more networking opportunities.  There are two parts to this challenge:
The first is by month: the person that gets the most members to sign up (join our network) in the month will get their business card posted on our website and in the newsletter for one month.
The second part is the person that gets the most people to sign up by December 31, 2019 will get their 2020 general membership paid for and get their business card on our website and in the newsletter for the entire 2020 year.

So looking forward to our February meeting with Suzanne Cruz and hearing all about bullet journaling - Track the Past, Order the Present, Design the Future.  Who can’t benefit from learning this system of organization and tracking.  I know that I can, this process sounds fascinating and I’m excited to learn how to bullet journal.

See you on February 20th for our lunch meeting at the Peppery!!

At our January meeting, we had speaker Michelle Carter.  She spoke about her personal experiences and time in Russia.  She brought her wonderful stories and her newest book "From Under the Russian Snow," and she had a book signing.

Business Tip from Nicole Kikugawa
"The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one."

Aloha! I am Nikki Coleman and I am thrilled to be returning to TCWN. I live in downtown Sonora with my husband James, my step-son Gabriel and our two pups, Clavey and Murphy. I am Native Hawaiian and those values are at the center of everything I do. I am the Philanthropy Officer for the Adventist Health Sonora Foundation.

Since our hospital is a not-for-profit organization, we have the unique opportunity to raise funds and provide support to our community that isn’t offered in a traditional health care setting. Whether it be providing financial assistance to a cancer patient whose treatment is not covered by health insurance, or purchasing a new heater to keep a Hospice patient warm in the winter, our Foundation offers a wide array of resources to help our community at vulnerable times when they need it most. Throughout the year, my teammate and I plan fundraising events and initiatives to raise money for these funds that are so near and dear to my heart. I am grateful each and every day for the opportunity to serve Tuolumne County – the BEST community on the planet, if you ask me!

When I’m not working to serve the Mother Lode, I’m out playing in it! My family and I are crazy in love with the Sierras and are out exploring and camping every chance we get. The Eastern Sierras also hold a very special place in my heart, so I live for Memorial Day each year when the pass opens. I look forward to connecting, (and re-connecting!), with all of you and working together in this community that we all share a deep love for. Here’s to a great year for TCWN!

Welcome Lana Erickson, Graphic Designer, guest of Claudia Puccinelli
"If everyone could bring one of your most current business cards to the next meeting to give to me for the newsletter needs, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks"
