AUGUST 2019
OUR MEETING
Hi Ladies -

The July meeting is Speed Networking!

What is it?

Speed Networking is similar to Speed Dating, participants sit across from each other and each gets a set period of time to speak about their business. Then everyone rotates and talks to the next person. ( we will be explaining this to everyone at the meeting too ).

There will be a few differences from a normal meeting though:

1. We won't need to do member introductions
2. I'd like to discuss when to eat at the board meeting. It won't be convenient to carry plates with us as we shuffle - can we eat at the very start of the meeting as we do news and things? Maybe even do the raffle at the beginning to give everyone a chance to eat?

PLEASE BRING 40-50 BUSINESS CARDS AND A REMINDER TO NOT ONLY BE PREPARED TO TALK ABOUT WHAT YOUR BUSINESS DOES, BUT WHO YOUR TARGET MARKET IS!
Our next meeting will be at The Peppery Gar & Brill for Lunch

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It is so much fun to go on vacation, but I gotta say there is no place like home.

Since I was not around to write my July President’s message, I wanted to take a moment to thank all the amazing TCWN 2019 Board Members for the many hours they have dedicated to improving our Network.  Thank you for all of your help moving TCWN forward in a positive direction, we could not succeed without everyone’s help. I am excited to see what we accomplish in the latter half of the year.

Can I just say what a blast we had a Yankee Hill Winery and Cooking School.  This was such a fun social event where we got to visit with each other, cook a yummy Mediterranean dinner and eat together, what could be better than that!!  I can’t wait to try some of the recipes that we prepared that night.  I think my first one will be the flatbread!!

I am really looking forward to trying out some “Speed Networking” at our next monthly meeting.  It’s like speed dating, only you share what you do in your business with a partner.  You get 45-60 seconds to share what your business is, then you partner gets the same amount of time and then everyone moves down one seat and we start all over again.  What an awesome way to perfect your elevator speech. I am intrigued by this concept and looking forward to practicing my skills delivering my message.  Come join us, it is going to be a blast!!

There are some TCWN Board positions available in 2020, if you are interested in becoming more engaged in the Network reach out to VP- Jennifer Valdez.

Our next meeting is at the Peppery August 21st, networking begins at 11:00 so come early to make connections!

NETWORKING WORKS
From Sally Dunn, Century 21, Wildwood Properties
7 Tips to Balance Your Work & Life with Mindfulness
1. Find your "Why"  When setting out to do something new and often challenging, it's important to know why you're doin it to help you state motivated when things get difficult.
2. Make Your Job Work for You  Even if your job isn't perfect, celebrate what you do love about it - perhaps growth opportunities, the social connection, or the paycheck, among other things. Develop an attitude of gratitude will help you be happier, more engaged and more present in your daily work life.
3. Set Boundaries  Focus on work at work and focus on home life at home is a recipe for happiness and peace of mind. Create routines for starting and ending work to  help you effectively transition from life to work and back again.
4. Start and End Your Day for You  Try spending the first 15-60 minutes of your day mindfully. Drink water, meditate, stretch, read, or journal.
5. Practice Doing Nothing  More time away from the office and longer, more frequent vacations.
6. Be Present for Transitions  Pause and take a deep breath and consider adding transition time to your calendar.
7. Schedule Tech-Free Time  Practicing a daily digital detox will allow you to fully detach from work and restore your ability to pay attention.
