Chantilly Ortiz, from Mountain Storm Jujitsu talked about the importance of being aware of your surroundings and not being distracted. She gave us 5 sensitive areas to strike if you are ever attacked and the best advice is keep your head up and walk with confidence.  Chantilly has over-come so much in her life and now teaches others how to stay safe and protect themselves.  Her talk provided us with a lot to think about!

I am Claudia Day and I have been a doTERRA Wellness Advocate since 2014.  When I first started using the oils it was never my intention to do this as a business, however after the oils and other doTERRA products made such an impact and positive change in my life, I felt lead to share the experience with others. Not only am I passionate about the wonderful benefits of the oils but I am thrilled to be involved with a company such as doTERRA that supports and is involved in so many humanitarian efforts throughout the poorest parts of the world.

I recently received my Natural Holistic Essential Oils Certification and I use other continuing education opportunities available to increase my working knowledge of the oils in order to share with others and to be a solutions provider.

I live in Groveland with my loving husband, two black standard poodles, two cats and chickens. I love spending time with family, adventuring around the world and am devoted to empowering others achieve health, education and spiritual wisdom. My doTERRA business name is Wellness Warrior.

Oh, and side note: I had been a member of TCWN in its infancy and was Treasurer for a spell way back when! I operated "Paralegal Plus" for 10 years, an independent paralegal doing much of the same as our beautiful newsletter editor Laura does now!

Thrive! Don't just survive! Oil Up!

My name is Melissa Shotell and I am a board‐certified Orthodontist at Sonora Modern Dentistry & Orthodontics. I decided I wanted to become a dentist during my preschool trip to the dental office when I was 4 years old. On this field trip I was the only child that volunteered to ‘play dentist’, and I was able to dress up in a white coat, and play with the air‐water dispenser. After extensive dental treatment as a teenager and life‐changing orthodontic treatment I became interested in orthodontics.

Education is my passion, so much in fact I have lived throughout the country to study at multiple universities to bring a broad set of experience to clinical practice. I worked as a general dentist for four years and always felt that orthodontics was my true professional calling and returned to school at Loma Linda University to receive my Master’s Degree in Orthodontics. As an Orthodontist I am very excited to work with my patients to achieve a smile they can enjoy for a lifetime.

As part of my life‐long commitment to education I have become board‐certified, a distinction held by very few orthodontists around the country; in fact, only 20% of orthodontists are certified!! The rigorous process of bard certification consists of written exams, verbal exams, and presenting patient treatment cases for evaluation. Finally, I am very proud to be the only female specialist dentist in the Mother Lode and the only board‐certified Orthodontist.

My husband and I enjoy living and working in the Mother Lode. We recently remodeled the Greenly Pharmacy into out new dental practice, to bring state of the art dentistry to the community in which we live and work.

In my free time I enjoy traveling and teach continuing education in dentistry and orthodontics for both dentists and dental students. My husband and I enjoy spending time with our friends and family, cooking and exploring the outdoors with our two dogs. My two dogs Pumpkin and Flower are always looking for mischief, and mange to keep me and my husband very busy.
