Thank you to all of Gordon Neighbourhood House’s amazingly dedicated and committed volunteers. We appreciate all that you do -- you inspire us all.

Volunteer Spotlight: Albert

Volunteer Yoga Instructor Albert has been teaching Vinyasa yoga sessions since the Summer of 2016 for the Tuesday evening pay-what-you-can yoga class. Albert completed his 200-hour teacher training from Karma Teachers in 2016.

He got involved because of his love for yoga, fitness, and meditation, and because he wanted to connect with people from his community. He volunteers at special events at the House as well, and told us that the 2016 Absolutely Fabulous Pride Party at GNH was one of his favourites.

“I've enjoyed many wonderful things that this beautiful neighbourhood has to offer and it's important for me to give back to the community which I've called my home for the past seven years ever since immigrating from Russia,” says Albert. “GNH is a small microcosm of Canada's mosaic…it represents its most diverse populous - youth, seniors, different cultures and ethnicities, gay, straight, people of different abilities. When you volunteer at GNH you get to work with such a diverse crowd. Interacting with the clients, volunteers and staff is one of the most enjoyable parts of my tasks. Whether it is teaching yoga or working at a special event, you get to meet folks from all walks of life.”

Thank you to Albert and all the Gordon Neighbourhood House volunteers!
