Summer Day Camp

Gordon Neighbourhood House’s Summer Day Camp provides an exciting, dynamic and educational experience for children and youth between the ages of 5 and 12. Our energetic camp team is ready to propel your children into a summer they won’t soon forget. With daily outings, the campers are able to gain access to activities they otherwise might not have the opportunity to experience. A few highlights our camp experience include a sleepover at Camp Sasamat, an adrenaline filled day at Playland and many more activities that your child won’t want to miss.

The summer of excitement begins
Monday June 30th and runs through Friday, August 22nd. The fees are $115 per week, $810 for the full summer and $105 for shortened weeks.

As space is limited, please contact Kaitlin Sterndale-Bennett at
604-683-2554 if you are interested in registering your child(ren) as soon as possible.

The GNH Urban Farm Expansion: New Site
Looking to get your hands dirty and help Gordon Neighbourhood House? We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for you to help! Gordon Neighbourhood House is looking to expand our urban farming initiatives, and in order to do so, we need some volunteers on Friday, June 6th and Saturday, June 7th, we’re going to be building a new garden site to help support Gordon Neighbourhood House’s food programs!

We’ve got garden work available that is appropriate for a wide variety of ages, abilities and availabilities, so if you’re interested, please email us at
welcome@gordonhouse.org. Together we grow!

The new farmland at 1209 Jervis street is being donated to Gordon Neighbourhood House and supported by Gordon Nelson Inc.

Gordon Neighbourhod House and the Attic Thirft Store now accept debit and Visa for purchases/donations over $10.

Send-a-Kid-to-Camp!
Gordon Neighbourhood House’s Summer Day Camp program is a fun and educational program offered to children and youth in the Downtown Peninsula. Participants are welcome to attend for all 8 weeks of summer, or on a per week basis.  Although summer can be a care-free time, several families struggle with the added stress of securing affordable full day care for their children. Through Gordon Neighbourhood House’s new Send-a-Kid-to-Camp program, you can help by offering to partially, or fully subsidize a child’s camp experience this summer.

Summer Camp will begin June 30th and run each week through to August 22nd. The cost is $115 per week, and $810 for the entire summer. We have an exciting summer program planned, including a sleepover at Camp Sasamat, a trip to the Salmon Hatchery, and a wet and wild day at Splashdown. If you would like to donate to our Send-a-Kid-to-Camp program, you can do so by using the 'Donate' the link on our website (
http://gordonhouse.org), by dropping of a cheque or coming in to make a donation using our interac machine. Tax receipts are available for donations over $20.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2nd Annual Earth Day Community Potluck.

A special thank you to Vancity for sponsoring the event, and to the team at the West End Branch who came out to volunteer.

Look out for details on our next Community potluck as part of the 2014 West End Food Festival.
