- Call for Emerging Artists - Public Art Banner Program - City of Mississauga | Deadline to submit is February 26 at 11:59 PM EST

The City's Public Art Program invites emerging artists, artist teams, and illustrators to submit expressions of interest and concept proposals for original banner artwork. Banner artwork will be displayed on light pole standards throughout the city, creating a captivating visual presence from June to Winter 2023. The commissioned artist(s) will create six banner designs. The City will be responsible for all fabrication and installation. At the end of the program, the commissioned artist(s) will have the opportunity to shadow an established sculptural or textile-based artist, who will transform the banners into a new creation.

VAM would love to showcase the talented artwork of artists of all ages to celebrate World Art Day! They want to emphasize how important art is, promote different techniques and media, and support artists of all ages. Submissions are due March 19.

Calling all artists! Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) invites you to submit images of your 2-dimensional artwork for their inaugural Art Calendar Fundraiser. Artists based in GTHA are eligible to submit, 12 artworks will be chosen - one for each month of the year. Selected submissions will be featured in the VAM Gallery and online for an in-person and virtual exhibition. Submissions are due March 31.

The City of Mississauga is now accepting applications for the City's fourth Youth Poet Laureate in 2023. The role of the Youth Poet Laureate is to serve as a literary ambassador for youth in the City and to elevate the status of poetry, literary arts, and young writers within their communities. This honorary position recognizes a young poet who writes excellent poetry or spoken word and has written on themes that are relevant to the citizens of Mississauga.

Ink Movement has opened its submissions for its annual Mississauga Youth Anthology! Since 2012, Ink Movement has strived to give young artists and writers a larger platform for them to share their work. They’ve published multiple anthologies filled with incredible art and writing created by Mississauga youth The theme of this year’s anthology is Adapting. They are seeking work that covers the topic of dealing with life changes (or alternatively, COVID recovery). They are accepting submissions from Mississauga youth aged 12-24.

Nominations for the 28th Mississauga Arts Award (MARTYS) are now OPEN! Professional artists and groups who are either residents of the City of Mississauga, have a significant connection to Mississauga or have made a major contribution to the arts within Mississauga are eligible to apply. MAC encourages artists and arts groups to submit their nomination with a letter of recommendation from their official nominator.

Calling all creatives! Applications are now OPEN for MAC's Spring 2023 MicroGrants & Matchmaker MicroGrants! MAC has announced a range of exciting opportunities in music, theatre, dance, visual arts, and arts for mental health programming, including a NEW Community Activation MicroGrant! MAC is also excited to return its Matchmaker MicroGrant program to all artistic practices. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 3 by 5 PM.
