The MaPP NVI Technical Team is seeking a Project and Technical Coordinator for the NVI Sub-region. The MaPP initiative seeks to contract and experienced project and technical coordinator with demonstrated experience working with government, First Nations and stakeholders in marine management and planning. The contractor will support the North Vancouver Island (NVI) Sub-regional Implementation Team to address key priorities in the NVI Marine Plan through development and implementation of the annual workplan. This rare and splendid coral garden is easily damaged by heavy prawn / crab traps, ropes, and other fishing gear that hit the seabed. The Mamalilikulla First Nation has designated the area for protection under its own Indigenous laws, and is hoping that the federal government will announce protection before the fishing season ramps up in April.
