Welcome to Circle's quarterly external newsletter. Here you will find an overview of some of the latest happenings at Circle. This edition is filled with Christmas cheer and festive thanks.

Christmas Campaign!

Circle took part in #GivingTuesday on 2nd December this year. After the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Circle encouraged people to donate to our Christmas campaign on Giving Tuesday which is allowing us to organise Christmas celebrations for children and families across Scotland. David Tennant got involved by sending us an #unselfie which proved hugely popular with his fans, and raised money. Students and staff at George Heriot's held a bake sale and raised £100 as well. The good news is it’s never too late to

Come on Scotland!

We’d like to say a big thank you to the Tartan Army Children’s Charity and its supporters for 5 pairs of tickets, a personalised letter, a new Scotland Top & £10 spending money for children for the Scotland v Ireland match and another 5 pairs for the Scotland v England International Friendly. The children had a blast!

Kin in the City
Christmas Celebration

Kin in the City, Sing in the City's Kinship Choir held a Christmas Celebration in St Andrew’s and St George’s Church. The choir donned Santa hats and tinsel and were equipped with jingle bells to get into the festive spirit and show off their singing (and dancing!) talent in what was their début public performance! The Edinburgh Christmas Tree festival was a lovely backdrop for the event. Click here to see a video of the performance.

Staff Development Day

Our end of year staff development day took place in Howden Park Centre, Livingston. The event involved teams reflecting on the year and devising action plans for the coming year. Staff development days are instrumental in maintaining high levels of morale, and allow teams the opportunity to mix! It was also great to wish everyone a very merry Christmas.

Festive thank yous!

Thank you to all those who donated toys and gifts for children and young people supported by Circle through Cash for Kids, St Serf's Church, Edinburgh, Pilrig Church, Edinburgh and St Mary's Church, Bathgate. Thanks also to the Salvation Army for food parcels and gifts for families.

A fraction of the gifts we have received!

The Sandpit Volcano
Big Book Bash

Children and families at Circle’s Haven project had a creative summer this year, writing, illustrating and presenting their own book, The Sandpit Volcano. Watch the video of the event!

Mystical Magical Moments Tree

Children and families did a fantastic job of decorating Circle’s Mystical Magical Moment tree at The Edinburgh Christmas Tree Festival. The tree features an array of handmade decorations and Christmas wishes from individuals who wanted to share their hopes for next year. Pop into St Andrew’s and St George’s Church on George Street over the Christmas period and look out for our tree!

Hare & Tortoise
Christmas outing

This year, Circle has been gifted tickets to the Hare & Tortoise, a Licketyspit production being performed at North Edinburgh Arts over the Christmas period. Families and children really enjoyed the performance!

Christmas Card
Competition Winner

Paige, age 7, has won this year's Christmas Card competition for her picture of a smiley, colourful snowman! Check out all of the entries here.

Kinship Christmas party!

Kinship Care teams across Edinburgh - Circle, Mentor and the social work team, joined forces to host a Christmas party for carers and their families. The turnout was fantastic, with around 50 carers present and over 60 children enjoying the festivities. Kin in the City performed (they're in demand!), and hopefully encouraged others to join them in the new year! Many thanks to all those who helped organise the event.
