Thursday 5 September 2019

Hello <<First Name>>

As part of our mission to help get more people online, our conference Digital Evolution: Healthier. Happier. Better Off. will take place on Thursday 28 November at the BT Centre in London. I’ll be chairing the day and talking all about how digital can help people to realise a range of positive outcomes. The conference will bring together organisations from communities across the UK, including network members, delivery partners and a range of others.

I’d like as many of you as possible to be able to attend the conference and make the most out of the day. That’s why I’m delighted to be able to offer up to 25 bursaries to cover the cost of the ticket and travel expenses.

Applications close Friday 6 September at 5:30pm.

Best wishes

Get Online Week star: Shahida

This week’s Get Online Week star is Shahida who, after 10 years as a stay-at-home mum, is now a part-time digital skills tutor at Online Centre Learn.org in Bradford and an administrator at a local nursing home.

As Shahida had been out of work for 10 years, the process of finding a job had changed greatly. She says: “Uploading my CV, Universal Jobmatch, applying for jobs online - I had to learn all this through Learn My Way because I hadn’t used this before.”

To read Shahida’s full story visit the Get Online Week website.

WORKING WITH VOLUNTEERS: SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS

When we receive funding from our corporate partners they often ask us to provide them with opportunities for their employees to volunteer at Online Centres.
We want to make sure that any volunteering that we develop is of real use to you, and not just a box-ticking exercise. We’d also like to provide the individual volunteer with a meaningful opportunity to help in their community.

Thank you to all of you who have already completed the survey. If you haven't done so, it should only take a few minutes to answer and we'd really appreciate it. The survey will remain open until Friday 13 September.

Have your say.
