It’s certainly been a busy few weeks here at Good Things Foundation! It was great to see so many of our community partners across both the UK and Australia, host events for Get Online Week last week. Despite the challenging times, it was so inspiring to see organisations adapt their events to help support individuals remotely and to help #FixTheDigitalDivide. A big thank you from all of us at Good Things Foundation to everyone that took part last week. 

We now need to gather feedback to help improve the campaign for next year. Even if you couldn’t take part in this year’s campaign, or signed up as an non-event holder, please take 5 minutes to complete the survey.

Virtual Volunteer support

Virtual Volunteering scheme to support community partners 

BT staff can now use up to 3 days of their time a year to volunteer and provide virtual support to our community partners. The scheme is designed to help you get support in areas like social media, online communication, or business and project management. 

Do you want to make better use of Twitter, improve your Facebook reach, or make use of mass texting and SMS messages to reach your learners or volunteers? Or do you want to develop your business strategy and evaluate the impact of what you do? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you. 

If you’d like to access this support, find out more about the scheme by visiting the website and completing the form. The opportunity is open until at least April 2021 and any member of the Online Centres Network can apply.

Centre of the month - A1 community works
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CENTRE OF THE MONTH

A huge congratulations to our Centre of the Month
A1 Community Works. Tanya and her colleagues have been doing a fantastic job supporting individuals in their North Yorkshire community throughout the pandemic, ensuring they are both digitally and socially included. They have supported individuals to learn digital skills so they can access basic services such as online banking, shopping and ordering prescriptions. Their commitment is inspiring and they are an asset to their community. Keep up the great work!

To recognise all of the hard work and to thank the team at A1 Community Works, we will be sending the centre an Amazon voucher. 

The Planner - Learn My Way

Earlier this year, we launched The Planner, a new tool integrated into Learn My Way that is designed to guide entry level learners in deciding where to start their digital education. To help you familiarise yourself with The Planner, Laura Faulkner, Curriculum Development Manager at Good Things Foundation has created a useful video to help explain what The Planner is, the advantages of using it and how to support your learners.

The Planner is not an initial assessment as it does not test learners but learners are asked questions about their confidence, and experience with digital skills and the responses given are used to create a personalised list of suggested courses.
