Thursday 9 January 2019

Hello <<First Name>>

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great Christmas. I’m looking forward to another exciting year here at Good Things Foundation - it’s fantastic to see how much our network has grown over the past year.

2019 was full of lots of highlights - you can take a read of my top ten moments here. It was particularly great to announce that we’ve supported more than 3 million people to gain digital skills over the last decade - thank you to everyone that made this such a success.

We’ve got lots of exciting things coming up! Later this month, our Share and Learn event will be returning, this time in London. This is a great opportunity for centres to meet one another as well as hearing from a range of speakers from the network. You can also attend workshops on bid writing and social media. I hope lots of you are able to attend the event!

I wish you all a happy and healthy 2020.

Best wishes

Make it Click funding - Belfast & Northern Ireland

If you’re looking for a new project this year, and you’re based in Belfast or Northern Ireland, then our Make it Click programme could be for you!

The programme aims to help adults achieve positive life and work outcomes, particularly around employment. By taking part you’ll be helping adults by supporting them to understand how digital skills can change their life, and giving the practical skills and knowledge to build their confidence to do so.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available for organisations to help adults who are limited users of the internet to gain the digital skills and confidence they need to thrive online.

Applications are open until Friday 31 January at 5pm. Delivery for this funding runs from Monday 13th January to Thursday 31st December 2020. For more information and to read the guidance document.

Safer Internet Day 2020
On Tuesday 11 February, Safer Internet Day is taking place. It’s a global celebration creating awareness around using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. Hundreds of organisations take part in the campaign annually to help promote safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. Visit the website to find out how you can get involved.
DO YOU USE TUMBLR?

Tumblr is an engaging social media platform where individuals can express their interests, hobbies as well as connect with others. It’s easy to use and is great for sharing information and keeping up to date with what’s going on! We’re keen to see how many of you use Tumblr, what you use it for and what you’d like to see if we created an Online Centres blog. We’re asking if you’d let us know by filling in our
short survey

New Year's honours list celebrations!

The New Year's honours list celebrates the exceptional achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. We're delighted to share that individuals from two of our centres were on the list this year, for their outstanding contribution to their libraries. We'd like to say a huge congratulations to Amy Hearn from Leeds Libraries and to Jacqui Thompson from Gateshead Libraries - fantastic achievement and something to be very proud of!
