Online Centres Network News
Thursday 16 April 2020

Hello <<First Name>>

Last week we launched our Response and Resilience Fund to help centres in our network that are facing immediate risk of closure due to cashflow issues caused directly by the current crisis. We know that many of you are facing challenging times and we’ve been reaching out to gain insight from our network to learn more about the pressures you’re facing and what we can do to help. I hope that this fund helps many of our Online Centres to keep doing fantastic work in helping individuals improve their digital skills at such crucial time.

The fund aims to enable Online Centres to be sustainable, in order to be in a position to reopen once the current challenges subside. Successful applicants will receive a one-off grant to enable successful delivery to continue. If you wish to apply, please read the full guidance on the website. You need to have joined the Network before 1 January 2020 to be eligible to apply. Applications close tomorrow, Friday 17 April at 12pm. We ask you to please read your application carefully and thoroughly before you submit.

Best wishes
Helen Milner and the Good Things Foundation team

DevicesDotNow- request a device today

DeviceDotNow is a new initiative from FutureDotNow which aims to help individuals who don’t have access to the internet and are digitally excluded by providing thousands of devices to help the most vulnerable individuals across the UK access information and support online during this challenging time.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed an interest so far, we’ve recently piloted this scheme with 7 centres and have sent out the first batch of devices to the network this week. If you have already requested a device but haven’t heard from us, please note we will be in touch as soon as possible.

If you are a centre and know of any individuals who could benefit from a device, please tell us by completing the form. We are asking centres to estimate how many devices they’d be able to distribute to digitally and socially excluded people in their community.

Gabi and her team have been working to identify ways in which we can support our centres further during this challenging time. She highlights the Response and Resilience Fund and removing the registration button on Learn My Way - a couple of things we’ve implemented to help our centres and learners.
