Hello <<First Name>>

It is great news that we have a road map out of lockdown with the easing of restrictions in the coming months. Like many of you I’m sure, I am looking forward to normality slowly returning and the warmer weather as Spring approaches us.

We know that so many of our community partners are working their hardest to support individuals in their local area to learn digital skills - and have done so throughout lockdown. We would appreciate it if you could complete our short surveys which help our understanding of what support you've been providing and what you need from our future projects.

The short Essential Digital Skills survey provides insight into the number of individuals you have helped in the last month, as well as how you’re helping individuals develop digital skills for work, health and life.

The Network Impact Survey will feed into our Network Impact Report. We want to better understand how the last year has affected your centre and what more we can do to help you to continue providing invaluable services in your community.

Best wishes,
Helen Milner OBE

HMRC funding opportunity - coming soon!

We’re delighted to once again be working with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on a funded project to help people understand and comply with their tax obligations and claim their entitlements - including those who are digitally excluded.

With the help of our community partners, we have already supported over 40,000 people since 2015 with advice and guidance on HMRC services. We’re now extending this further with a new three year programme running from 1 May 2021 to 31 March 2024.

Applicants will need experience of supporting people with HMRC services. There will be an initial online session on Wednesday 24 March which we will be sharing more information on how you can sign up to this in our next newsletter, as well as more information about the project.

PAID OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT AT A 2021 DIGITAL EXCLUSION AND ENERGY EVENT IN MAY

In May this year, Good Things Foundation, National Energy Action and the University of Liverpool are holding a joint online conference to explore the impact of digital exclusion within the energy sector. For those who are digitally excluded, the increasingly digitised energy sector presents lots of challenges and negative consequences such as accessing cheaper tariffs, understanding smart meters or finding out more about green energy deals.

With this in mind, we are keen to hear from community partners in our network who may be able to talk about some of the challenges people face around digital exclusion and energy.

Community partners would be asked present for 20 minutes at the conference and take part in subsequent discussions. In return, each speaker will receive £200 for taking part.

Carnegie UK Trust, an organisation that aims to improve the lives and wellbeing of disadvantaged people across the UK. To help support community organisations making the transition online, the trust has produced a series of blogs in partnership with Your Own Place, which contain key insights, learnings and questions raised by a number of organisations.

The series aims to help organisations test new digital techniques to ensure that individuals are receiving the services they need throughout and beyond the pandemic. You can read the blogs on the Carnegie UK Trust
