Helping poor and disadvantaged in Nepal since 2004

You have already helped us tremendously since the beginning of Shenpen’s post-earthquake reconstruction project in Dhola, Dhading (Nepal). 60 days before the completion of the project, we need a little bit more help, and in addition to your precious financial support, we thought that you may agree to become an Ambassador for our cause. But before that, you may want to know where the project is so far. Here are some updates.

After 16 months of intensive work, the villagers will move into their new cozy homes in less than 60 days. This means that, with your support, they will have built one house every eight days (!), from digging the foundations of the 55 houses to installing the roofs.

Here are some photos of the progression of since the beginning:

Financial Report

For Shenpen’s team, it was important to move from relief effort to the reconstruction of Nepal. With the remaining donations targeting relief efforts and those offered during the Dhola Rebuild Homes | Heal Hearts campaign, Shenpen collected and invested $320,000 in the reconstruction project in Dhola.

Here is how your donations have been invested:

To complete the project before the next rainy season, 130,000$ need to be raised. In order to meet that challenge, Shenpen is launching a fundraising blitz, and we are proposing that, since you have already helped us build those houses and you are aware of how successful the program has been so far, you could help us a bit more by becoming an Ambassador for the cause and sharing information about the project with your family and friends.

A little help needed
We have presently raised 71% of the necessary funds; only 29% are left to be met. The villagers of Dhola and we at Shenpen would be extremely grateful if you could just spread the word about our project.

Words of a donor

“If I can bring a little bit of light, a little bit of smile to one family by sponsoring the construction of a house, I think it is enough for me. […] I feel good about that.”

Babu Kaji Shrestha kindly sponsored the construction of one of the 55 houses. In this short video, he explains how good he feels about his altruistic gesture and shares his thoughts on the project. Feel free to watch this inspiring video!

We now have about 60 days left to fundraise the remaining $130,000. With your help, we plan to do a fundraising blitz. Any contribution, even the smallest is welcome.
