Greetings from Spain!..
Josh & Susy Missionaries to Spain. Scripture to Ponder: Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this. (2 Corinthians 4:1-2 NLT)
Isabella to college...
In January we dropped off Isabella at Greenville college. She started Spring semester and was excited for a new chapter in her life. She was also accepted in the Cheerleading program. Isabella has been cheering in Spain the last five years and was pleased to continue and make the squad.
Mama was not ready to let go.... We helped her settle into her new room at the international dorm. She was already making friends and getting used to college life.... We will be adapting to an empty nest :(
It was great to reconnect with the Study Abroad students from last Fall. Michelle, Leanna, Brittany and Brooke.
Missions Conference... February 5-7, we participated in a Missions conference at Waynesboro, VA FMC. Friday night we made a typical Spanish meal (Paella) and shared about the ministry and expectations for the weekend. Pastor Chris and Bethany (baby Jackson) Pulice lead this congregation. They have been faithful supporters since the beginning of our missionary journey.
On Saturday we held workshops in the morning about reaching your local community and the world around us. Local outreaches were planned for the afternoon. The church partners with Love Inc. They collected / delivered furniture and clothing to neighbors in need.
Missions Conference continued.... A group from Waynesboro went to Roanoke to visit a group of Burundi ex-pats. They are a Free Methodist Congregation and held a special service on Saturday for the Missions conference. We were privileged to worship together. Josh was asked to preach with a few minutes warning. It was an amazing time of singing. We finished with a wonderful meal. Watch the video!
Worship at a Burundi ex-pats in Roanoke, Va. It's raw footage. Love the simplicity and how they made us welcomed.
New Missionaries to Spain coming...José and Ada Hernández, elders in the South Atlantic Conference, were appointed as missionaries to Spain in January 2016. José, who has been an adjunct faculty member at Asbury Theological and Wesley Seminary, will work in leadership development and church planting support. Ada will work with member care and church planting support with the ministries in Spain. Contingent on having raised the necessary financial support, José and Ada’s anticipate leaving for the field August 2016.
HELP them get to the field. Please give and share with others:
We were blessed to visit Spring Arbor University and spend a couple of days with Gabriela. She turned 21 on the 12th. Grandpa, Gonzalo, who shares the birth date also made the trip. We had the opportunity to reconnect with Shar and Marston Fortress (Thanks for hosting us!) Also, SAU staff and church Pastor Mark Van Valin
Missions opportunities for you and your church
Prayer Conference & Journey The Free Methodist Church of Spain would like to invite you on a prayer conference and journey for the nation and its people. If you studied Spanish history you learned how Spain has influenced continents and has contributed to the economic and spiritual development of many countries in both hemispheres. Today, it’s a different story... Christian history informs us that Spain never experienced a spiritual reformation. This is why we are inviting you to join us in praying for God’s power to be revealed on this nation!
We are excited about parenting with Women's Ministry International for this historic event. The first three days will be a special conference for women. The remaining seven days we will visit and pray in several cities in southern Spain. Men are also invited for the prayer journey. Click here for registration and download the brochure for more details and itinerary.
