Stakeholders from business, academia, government and civil society attended the forum, and engaged on issues relating to EU-Africa STI cooperation. The following issues formed part of the main discussions:
  • The enhancement of knowledge sharing, matchmaking structures and involvement of stakeholders in multidisciplinary R&I projects;
  • Promoting academia-industry cooperation such as training and exchange programmes, and joint investments;
  • Defining bi-regional STI roadmaps and instruments for development cooperation targeting societal challenges relating to climate change, food security and health;
  • Development of joint centres of excellence and think tanks;
  • Raising awareness of the benefits of STI and development of measures to include STI in partner countries' development plans;
  • Strengthening national and multinational innovation systems through capacity and infrastructure development;
A recommendation paper will soon be published on the forum's webpage.
