Horizon 2020: Ghana Researchers, Innovators Get to Grips
Horizon 2020 Workshop in Ghana
Close to 80 participants attended the Horizon 2020 information workshop and National Contact Point training session in Accra (25-26 May 2015).
The event targeted researchers and innovators from west and central Africa. Its goals? To showcase Horizon 2020 opportunities and to train NCPs to support improved African Horizon 2020 participation.

The CAAST-Net Plus and the INCONTACT 2020 projects organised the event, working closely with local hosts from Ghana's Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (STEPRI). "Information sessions are critical because they are carefully designed to support researchers in participating in Horizon 2020 projects," says Constantine Vaitsas, a National Contact Point at the FORTH/PRAXI Network in Greece and one of the workshop's presenters.

CAAST-Net Plus Reports Presented at Ministers' Dialogue

The CAAST-Net Plus analytical paper, Africa-EU Research Collaboration on Food Security: A Critical Analysis of the Scope, Coordination and Uptake of Findings, was presented on 7 July 2015 at the High-Level Dialogue of African Ministers and Legislators on Mobilising STI for Africa's Sustainable Development Post-2015, held in Accra, Ghana.

The earlier released CAAST-Net Plus report, Africa-EU Research Collaboration on Climate Change: A Critical Analysis of the Scope, Coordination and Uptake of Findings (2014), was also presented at the dialogue, alongside the findings and recommendations for decision-makers from the first CAAST-Net Plus stakeholder forum.

“CAAST-Net Plus aimed to inform the delegation of African ministers, the UNESCO delegation and science experts on the ongoing work of CAAST-Net Plus in EU-Africa research and innovation collaboration and to provide potential strategies in the uptake of research in food security, climate change, and health,” says Stefan A. Haffner of the German Aerospace Center’s Project Management Agency (DLR-PT).
