Summer Fellows Forum 2016
June 7-10 at the University of California, Berkeley

It's time to register!  Each year Bio-Link Fellows from across the nation come to Clark Kerr Campus (CKC) in Berkeley, CA to learn about the latest practices in biotechnology education. Participants learn new skills and techniques, catch up on the latest issues, and examine new materials. Fellows then take this information back to their own regions for implementation.  

Check in for Summer Fellows 2016 will be Tuesday, June 7th at 1:00pm and check out will be Friday, June 10th before 12 noon.  Learn about the Summer Fellows Forum and Fellowships

Join NBC2, Bio-Link, and the National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce, and the AC2 Bio-Link Regional Center for the 13th annual Community College Program at BIO. The event takes place in San Francisco on June 6th, 2016.  For more information or to register click here.


HI TEC registration

The 2016 High Impact Technology Exchange Conference (HI TEC) is a national conference on advanced technological education where secondary and postsecondary educators, counselors, industry professionals, trade organizations, and technicians can update their knowledge and skills.  The event will be held in Pittsburgh July 25-28.  

We still have some registration codes that allow Bio-Link members to register for the HI TEC conference at a reduced rate.  If you are interested, contact Dr. Elaine Johnson [] for a HI TEC registration code.

Bioscience Industry Fellowship Project:  Apply for Fellowships

(Instructor Opportunity)

Apply now for a fellowship to attend the Bioscience Industry Fellowship Project (BIFP). During this four week professional development initiative, Fellows reside in Winston-Salem, NC where they gain a panoramic view of the bioscience industry and participate in laboratory skills "boot camps" at three collaborating community colleges.  Applications are due by April 8, 2016.

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is coming to New Orleans April 16-20th.  

Student membership to the AACR is free for any high school, undergraduate or postbaccalaureate student with an interest in cancer and related biomedical science. Apply here.

Students are welcome to attend the career fair for free at the conference, April 16, 2016.  For more information click here

The American Association of Immunologists is coming to Seattle May 13-17th. 

Undergraduate students, high school students, and high school teachers will receive free registration at the meeting. Participants must register on site in Seattle. Registration will not be accepted in advance.

To receive a complimentary registration on site, please bring a student/teacher ID card or a letter signed by your department head, research advisor, principal, or teacher. We request that high school students be accompanied by a registered adult at all times. For more information click here.


BIO Career Fair

BIO will be hosting the BIO Career Fair on Thursday June 9 from 2:00 to 7:00pm.  As an extension of BIO's online job board--BIO Jobs--the Career Fair will provide an opportunity for meeting participants and top employers.  For more information click here.

BioCurious:  DNA Barcoding--Identify Unknown Organisms from their DNA

DNA barcoding is a method of species identification using short sequences in an organism's DNA. This hands-on class will be held on April 9th from 11:00AM PDT to 5:00PM in Sunnyvale, CA. For more details click here.
