Happy April everyone!

This spring has been an incredibly busy time for Bio-Link and our sister ATE center, the Austin Community College Bio-Link Regional Center.  As you can see from this newsletter, we've been planning a jam-packed summer with lots of workshops and exciting events. The most exciting event of all, of course is the annual Summer Fellows Forum.  This year, we'll have sessions on exciting projects like the Small World Initiative, exciting technologies like the CRISPR / Cas system, disposable bioreactors, 3D printing, and electronic lab notebooks, and exciting methods for researching current topics like Zika virus.  Teaching practices will be foremost with sessions on team-based learning and evidence-based practices.  We'll even get to preview an exciting new interactive movie to help students understand what it's like to work in a biotech company.  If you haven't registered yet, register now!

We're looking forward to seeing you!

CSO Caucus, July 22nd, Lexington, KY

In 2012, Bio-Link convened a group of educators to discuss creative strategies for supporting local companies and providing students with the workplace experience needed to prepare them for biotech jobs.  We learned about community college incubators, non-profit "companies", housing companies on-site and a variety of other strategies that were summarized in the Bio-Link 2012 CXO Summit report.

This summer, the
Austin Community College Bio-Link Regional Center will be leading the effort to uncover what we've learned since 2012 and showcase efforts to build incubators at Austin Community College and Bluegrass Community & Technical College in Kentucky.
