What's Happening in 2017?

Wow!  That is really all I can say about this year already.

Every January, I ask the Lord to give me a word or a theme for the year.  This year I received two - 1. Be teachable, and 2. This is your Jubilee year!

If you know anything about Old Testament history, then you know that the Jubilee year was a time of celebration, forgiveness of debts and God's blessings.  I believe I have already seen the Lord pour out His blessings in just the first month, and am looking forward to whatever else He has in store.

The first part of the month, Rick and I were invited to attend the Governor's Inauguration and Ball.  Because we both had to work, we only made it to the later, but what a fun time it was!  We truly felt like Cinderella and Prince Charming with all the festivities.

Then last week, we had the awesome privilege to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in DC along with other events.

Without giving you a play by play, all I can say is that it was phenomenal.  We met so many people from a number of countries, was able to pray with a number of Secret Service, Capitol Police, and others at various times, had the privilege of praying in front of the Supreme Court with leaders from Faith & Action organization, etc.

On a side note, one of the members of Faith & Action proclaimed nonchalantly while we were visiting, "This is the year of Jubilee"!!  Remember what God had told me at the beginning of the month?!  Only He can orchestrate that.

Aside from all the excitement of these two momentous events, Badge of Hope also gained two new board members which we are really excited about - Jim Sutterby and Kim Long!

Jim is a Captain with Overland Park PD, KS and Kim is the Regional Manager of Pasta House in Union, MO and has a heart for law enforcement.  We are thrilled to have them!

Looking ahead, we have a conference in South Dakota coming up in April, our annual (local) Officer Appreciation event in May at the Old Courthouse in Union, and the National Police Week activities in DC.

I have also been accepted and commissioned to write ten devotionals for "Open Window" magazine put out by LifeWay.  This is a life-long dream for me, so please keep me in your prayers as I write these devotions.

As always, we covet your prayers as we move forward through this "Jubilee" year and seek out all God has in store for us and how He wants to use us to help others.

Thank you for your continued support.  We couldn't do it without you!
