We are thrilled to share the news that Lucie Nash has rejoined Home-Start Greenwich as our Nursery Administrator at Plumstead. Lucie was previously part of the Childrens Centres Admin team and with her knowledge of Home-Start from her time here last year she sailed through the interviews as a clear frontrunner and rejoined us at the end of May. We hear her arrival is already making a big impact at the Nursery and will have the admin whipped into shape in no time! Great to see you back Lucie, good luck in your new role.

We're delighted to share the news of a new arrival!

Chanselle, one of our Child Practitioners, had a beautiful baby boy on 4th June 2021.

We couldn't resist sharing this adorable picture with you, we are wishing her and her lovely bundle of joy the best and passing on a roar of congratulations from the Home-Start Greenwich Teams.

The Healthy Start scheme is being extended to children from families with the No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) condition.

This change has come about because of a legal challenge bought by a child and their mother living with NRPF. The court ruled that excluding families with NRPF was unlawful because it breaches the duty to safeguard child welfare.

Here is a quote from the child’s mother:

“I have been living with the fear of being punished for needing to have recourse to public funds, and I am glad it is now all over. I hope that other children will not have to grow up in poverty, as my child had to at times, simply because his mum is not British.”

School Food Matters have written an excellent blog about it here >

There is more detail on the case in The Guardian here >

Big thanks to everyone who supported the inspection visit from Ofsted at Brookhill on Thursday 17th June. The visit went really well and we expect to know the outcome within the next 3 weeks. Well done to everyone who supported, especially to the Brookhill Early Years T4T Team. Congratulations to Lisa and Augustina and their team.
