England’s Coast

We now have more than 650 businesses around the coast involved in our Discover England Fund project England’s Coast. Focusing on attracting greater numbers of Dutch and German nationals to visit the coastline, particularly in the off-peak season, our itinerary builder allows users to design their own holidays and book direct with accommodation providers, attraction and activity operators.

Add your business…

If you’re a coastal accommodation provider within five miles of the coast and have a secure online booking facility on your website or through a third party agent, or if you’re an attraction or activity operator within 15 miles of the coast, it’s free to add a listing.

Simply click here to get started, it only takes 5 minutes.

….and come to our workshops!

To explain more about the England’s Coast initiative, why we’re working with these particular markets and how to work with the international travel trade, we’ve been holding a series of free workshops across the country.

To date we’ve visited Dorset, Norfolk, East Lincolnshire and East Sussex. Coming up we’ll be in Essex on 5 June, Suffolk on 6 June, Brighton on 12 June and in Northumberland on 14 June. We’ll also be staging two in Devon later in June.

Folkestone – creative flair

We’ve focused on Folkestone in the latest of our Best Practice guides. After years of hard work, the town’s Creative Quarter is finally becoming self-sustaining. As a result, this once fading coastal town is reversing its economic fortunes and being restored to prosperity.

New research - international visitors

How can we attract more international visitors to the coast? We’ve conducted surveys of more than 1,500 nationals in the Netherlands, Germany and France to discover their travelling motivations and attitudes, and combined the top level findings into one report, so you can easily compare between the different markets.
