'Emerging Artists'
New exhibition 7th - 30th August

Identifying and encouraging the new generation of artistic talent is a pleasant and enjoyable pass-time which we all enjoy: witness the crowds of enthusiastic art lovers studiously inspecting the current spate of graduate shows and open studios.

What makes this exhibition different is that this group of talented young professional artists have all studied at the Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence - a world renowned atelier which teaches traditional classical art and draughtsmanship in the way of the Old Masters.  The results - as demonstrated in the portraits, sculptures and paintings that will be on view at the gallery in August - are stunning.

The artists are Antonia Barclay, George Clark, Domenica de Ferranti, Timothy Gatenby,
Guy Haddon Grant, Tom Richards, Jamie Vaulkhard, Isabella Watling and Nick Wood

Asked what makes the Charles Cecil Studios so special, Exhibition Curator Jamie Vaulkhard says: 'I don't know of anywhere else where I could have received such a thorough training.  The school not only gives a great technical foundation but more importantly it teaches one to observe and work from life'.

Canoe Study III
Bronze sculpture by Domenica de Ferranti

This is a unique opportunity to identify and admire the work of some of our most promising young figurative artists.  Their names may not yet be known to the public, but they are the ones to watch for the future.  Two have already had portraits accepted for the BP Portrait Award, and for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

All the artists exhibiting in this exhibition accept commissions.  They are helping 'man' the gallery themselves,so please call in and meet them before 30th August.
