News from the Principal
Mrs Mary Anne Evans

As the School term enters into Week 8, the firmly established rhythm and routine of daily school life is apparent. Students are well accustomed to their timetables – the new structure of one hour period lengths, teachers, homework, study, training, rehearsals and the myriad of other activities that are “school-life”. This busyness is not only apparent for students and staff, but of course parents.

New England Girls’ School invites you to attend our Meet the Principal events
Join NEGS Principal, Mrs Mary Anne Evans, to find out why
“There’s no place like NEGS” as she outlines our academic and co-curricular programs and boarding opportunities.

Mrs Evans will also talk to families about our extensive equestrian offerings. Director of Enrolments and Marketing, Mrs Etoline Galbraith, will also be in attendance.

Please come and join current families, Old Girls and prospective families for light refreshments. If you have friends who may be interested in a NEGS education for their daughter, please feel free to bring them along too.

We look forward to meeting with you.

Boarding @ NEGS

From the Director of Boarding

I am a city born and bread individual and when I came to the country and started working at NEGS 11 years ago I never thought I could find another school like the one I came from. It was an all girls day school in the Inner West of Sydney with all the bells and whistles you would expect from a Sydney Independent School. It was a great school. But ….. it wasn’t the bells and whistles which made it great.

Seeking Holiday Hosts

Every year we have girls come from Kichijo, Japan who enrol at NEGS for one year to experience life in Australia.  This year, we welcome the lovely Emi Hasegawa who has joined the Year 10 girls. As it is hard for Emi to travel back to Japan for the school breaks, we would love it if families would consider taking Emi for some of the holidays so she can experience our different lifestyles here in Australia, as well as learn about the Japanese culture from Emi.  If you are interested in having Emi stay with your family please contact Selina Croft in Enrolments on 6774 8700.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Naplan for Year 9 and the HSC Minimum Standard

Dear Years 7, 8 and 9 Families,
The following changes have been made to the achievement of the HSC from 2020.
Our students will continue to be supported in their class lessons to ensure they achieve their best and are fully prepared for these tests. If you have any concerns, please contact your daughter’s class teacher directly. Although this information is focused on Year 9 students, this information is also relevant to years 7 & 8 for when they complete the NAPLAN tests.

Please note - the minimum standard is NOT a Band 8, you will find that the content of the questions is not the same difficulty as Band 8 expectations. Read More
