Proposal to change theatre smoking ban angers Cancer Council

THEATRE producers would more easily obtain smoking exemptions for characters required to light up on stage under a push by the state government to streamline a system that currently had a three-month waiting period and requires the approval of the Governor. But the move has angered the Cancer Council, which says a total ban must remain to “assist with the denormalisation of smoking”.
