The tobacco industry has threatened to launch super-cheap cigarettes costing just $9 a pack in response to a growing black market in cheap, illegal tobacco, which health officials claim they are powerless to seize. The NSW Cancer Council has slammed the move by the tobacco industry as a desperate attempt to attract new smokers.

An electronic cigarette retailer in Newfoundland and Labrador wants the industry to be regulated, but not as restricted as his counterparts will soon be in other Canadian provinces. Bill Shea, who owns four Vapour XS stores in the metro St. John's area, said regulations should be imposed over the industry.
